Hike on Angel Island

ANGEL ISLAND HIKE

Saturday, September 11, 2010

9:30am - 3:00 pm

A group of us will be taking the Blue and Gold Fleet ferry from Pier 41 in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf to Angel Island. It is easily accessible to all on the Muni F line from the Castro or from the Ferry Building (close to Bart's Embarcadero Center). Round-trip ticket is $16. Because it's a popular month for outdoor events, we strongly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance, at Pier 39 or online. Pack a lunch or brin...g something share. Food/drinks may be purchased also at the Angel Island Cove Cafe. Bring along your sunblock lotion and a towel or blanket to sit on if you wish. This should be a great opportunity to get to know one another and share in fellowship.

There are many hiking options available. We will be hiking on Perimeter road, which is a paved road that goes around the island and is considered an "easy" hike. There are picnic tables at the Visitor's Center and at Fort McDowell and restroom facilities along the trail. But there are also other spots we can stop to have our lunch. The hike time is approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

You can sign up for the hike on our Facebook events page, or send an email to gbs.hartford@gmail.com to sign up or if you have any questions. You can join our Facebook page, by going to our profile page.

CASTRO STREET FAIR

Sunday, October 3, 2010

11 AM TO 5 PM

18th Street @ Castro, San Francisco

We are looking for volunteers to help the Sangha at our booth between 11 am and 5 pm. You can sign up for two hour shifts starting at 11. The last shift will be responsible for breaking the booth down at 5. If you unable to volunteer, please visit us at the Fair, location TBD, but it probably will be the same as last few years, on 18th Street between Castro and Hartford Street.

Thanks for your support. Donations are gladly welcome to help us defray the significant expense associated with renting space at the Castro Street Fair to have a booth. The booth has proved to be a valuable means of disseminating information to our LGBT community about the Sangha, its programs and activities.

You can sign up with us with the time slot you are interested in by emailing us at gbs.hartford@gmail.com or visiting our events page on Facebook. You can join our Facebook page by going to our profile page.
